Boyle is strategically located at the foot of the Curlieu Mountains, just off the main Dublin/Sligo N4 route. The town's many historical buildings and archaeological sites are of national importance.  Surrounded by scenic lakes  the Boyle region is one of the most popular angling destinations in the country.

King House is a magnificently restored Georgian Mansion built around 1730 by Sir Henry King. The house is situated overlooking the river in Boyle Town Centre. King House is built on former MacDermot Clan lands and boasts unique architectural qualities making it a building of international significance.

Boyle Abbey is an impressive and well preserved Cistercian Monastery which was founded in the 12th century. It was used to accommodate a military garrison during the 17th and 18th centuries nevertheless retains its ability to impress the visitor as one of the most formidable of the early Cistercian foundations in Ireland. A restored gate-house of 16th/17th century houses an exhibition.
