Lough Arrow - Week Ending 9th June, 2011
Murrough fishing successful on Lough Arrow
Murrough
fishing has proved successful on Lough Arrow for visiting and local
anglers alike. Craig Edmeades, Norway, (and a guest at Arrowrock Hostel) boated a fine fish of 4lbs to
the murrough, while Wim Scoors, Belgium had one of 1.5lbs. Peter Dunne
also had success, with four fine trout ranging from 2.5lbs to 3.75lbs.
The wet fly proved productive for Vincent Conlon and Pat Beggan, who
had four trout ranging from 1lbs to 1.5lbs.

Late evenings and sedges best for trout at Lough Arrow
Relatively
few anglers fished Lough Arrow throughout the week, however, reports
indicate that the trout are feeding well in the late evenings on Sedges
and Murroughs. The Murrough proved successful for Michael Gunning who
had two of 1.5lbs and 2.5lbs and also for David Grey who had one of

Lough Arrow Trout
The
Sedge and Murrough are still producing good catches for those who are
fishing the late evenings on Lough Arrow. Michael Gunning boated a fine
5 lb. trout while fishing the Murrough, while Sedges proved productive
for David Gray. Fishing the late evening Sedge hatch, David had 8
trout, with the best weighing an impressive 5.5 lb.

Lough Arrow Trout fly anglers fish best in evenings
Anglers
who ventured out on Lough Arrow enjoyed good sport, especially in the
late evenings. Francie White reported boating three trout on wet flies,
with the average size being 2.25 lb. David Gray had four trout to the
dry Murrough and Green Peter, with his best fish 3.5 lb., while Thomas
Walsh had three trout to the Murrough, averaging 3 lb.Lough Arrow - Week Ending 14th July, 2011
Good sedge fishing on Lough Arrow
Lough
Arrow saw very good sedge fishing during the week with the best of the
fishing very late in the evenings. Amongst the successful anglers were
David Gray with 5 brown trout up to 3.5 lb., Garry Martin with 2 fish
of 2 lb. and 3 lb. and Dave Cadman also with 2 fish; best at 6 lb. Best

Green Peter producing some nice trout on Lough Arrow
With
the evenings now cooling, the Green Peter rises are starting to
decrease and late evening fishing is becoming more unproductive. Late
August and early September should see an improvement in day time
fishing. However, some anglers did enjoy good sport fishing the Green
Peter. Mark Irwin, Belfast, boated two trout of 2 lb. and 3.5 lb. while
David Grey, had four fish to 3.5 lb. Jimmy Frazer had one of 2.5 lb. as

Few fly anglers on Lough Arrow, good day time fishing to be had
Now
that the evening fishing has tapered off on Lough Arrow, few anglers
are venturing out onto the lake. There is still some decent fishing to
be had during the day, however, and Peter Dunne had two nice trout one
day last week, the best of these was 2.5lbs. Noel Fairbanks also had a
nice fish of 3.2lbs on a dry fly.
